ARTEM : a rich week of interculturality!
Updated: May 12, 2020
In order to have the opportunity to meet each other, to get to know each other better and to create opportunities for encounters through the exchange of services, this is how two groups met in the premises of the Centre Social de la Pépinière” in Pau, from 13 to 17 January 2020:
One, composed of refugees and migrants from Libya, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and Spain ;
the other, local residents from Pau and different regions of France.
Together, they were trained to meet the other in a multicultural context and learned how to talk to each other in a respectful way, overcoming all prejudices and stereotypes, how to tell each other's story, their life's journey.
A day of common exchanges validated these exercises rich in emotion and discoveries... And for that, any proposal was welcome: hairdressing, guided tour of the city, language courses, cooking or sewing workshops... To each his own skills and desires!
This first training sequence was a success. Positive feedback and a high level of motivation from all the participants demonstrate the interest and richness of a project such as this one in terms of interculturality.
A second version of this training is foreseen from 16 to 20 March 2020 at the Centre Social de la Pépinière with two new groups of participants.
